EXPLORE: Our Eco-Friendly Products | Sustainable Materials Dictionary
So we’re excited to introduce to you… Our favourite sustainable alternatives to products from our best-selling categories. For example, the always popular Colorado umbrella and its sustainable counterpart which is made out of RPET (recycled polyester).
It’s good to know that all the products we carry in our assortment live up to regulatory standards, but there are just some products that go the extra mile – those are the ones we are showcasing here. For those of you wondering how you can increase the sustainability of your promotional products marketing, this page can help you navigate that decision.
Without a doubt, some of the products we sell the most are pens. They're cost-effective, writes smoothly, and looks great with your logo printed on. The shown selection is all made out of different sustainable materials: aluminium, wheat straw, and cardboard.
Usually, umbrellas are made out of polyester. But we'd like to show you some sustainable alternatives. For example, when you buy an umbrella made out of RPET (recycled polyester), you're actually helping clean up scrapped polyester and single-use plastic water bottles, and thus reducing the existing material-waste around the world.
We'd like to tell you a fun fact about notebooks. Since the paper is made out of trees which absorb carbon dioxide (CO2), that same property actually transfers over to notebooks – of course in a smaller capacity. This means the paper in your notebook actually continues to absorb CO2 and release oxygen while you carry it around. That's pretty cool.
Here you'll see a regular t-shirt being compared to our organic models. The models on the right are 100% organically sourced and sustainable in their lifecycle. We hope this information can help you navigate your textile decisions for the future. Remember, every product we have is sourced according to regulatory standards, but some of them just go the extra mile on sustainability, and every little bit helps!
Tote-bags are on the most popular promotional products in the world today and for good reason. They feature a large-scale canvas with plenty of room for your logo and/or statement to be printed on it. In this section, we're showing you two bags that already sustainable in their materials, but the reason we're contrasting the one on the left with the jute model on the right is that we'd like to inform you about jute as a material.
You see, jute is a fibre just like cotton, but it has some different properties that have a nice story to it. First of all, jute is completely natural and renewable as a crop that can be harvested. In fact, by planting and harvesting jute, the very soil underneath it actually becomes more fertile for future use. Besides that, jute can also grow simply by receiving water from normal occasional rain, whereas something like cotton needs external water sources.
Additionally, jute, much like trees, actually absorb CO2 and release oxygen into the world that you and I breathe. It actually does this faster than trees! Besides that, jute actually has natural UV protection (protection from sun rays). Lastly, it only takes 4-6 months for the jute to grow and be ready for harvest. That's a very quick and sustainable cycle!
For our bottles, we'd like to show you two that are made in materials that are sustainable for different reasons. The one on the left – Sirius – is among our most popular bottles, because it's recyclable and very durable. And of course, it also helps reduce the amount of single-use plastic bottles in our world, which has a negative impact on our footprint.
Now, the one on the right from Topflask is made out of aluminium and is an extremely popular choice for popular brands and influencers who wants to feature a product line of their own merch. This is largely due to its sleek design and low cost. But we'd like to put an emphasis on the sustainability of this bottle since it's made out of aluminium.
The thing is, aluminium is one of the worlds most sustainable metals. That's because it can be melted, shaped into products and then re-melted again without the aluminium losing any of its quality properties. So no matter what, aluminium is infinitely recyclable. Think of it this way, the Topflask you buy today, made out of aluminium, can be used to make other bottles or products made from aluminium hundreds of years from now. That's pretty crazy to think about.
The story with these backpacks is pretty much the same as with our umbrellas from Colorado. One is made in a regular material according to regulatory standards, where it uses materials to produce a backpack. Meanwhile, the other alternative to the right is made in RPET (recycled polyester), meaning it's made out of trashed/scrapped polyester materials and PET bottles.
So in essence, both are absolutely fine, but if you want to take your sustainability to the next level, you can actually use the RPET Nolan backpack both to take a stand with your branding, but also to help clean up the trash in the world.
This way you're using previously scrapped materials and help turn it into something people can use to carry their items around.
