Our history

IGO was founded in 1961, but the idea had already taken root. Founder Martien Jonkers was born in Helmond in 1924. At the age of 21, he started his own company: Jonkers’ Handelsonderneming, a small trading company with big ambitions. He was one of the first to introduce printed pens to the Dutch market, a simple idea that quickly proved to be powerful. As demand increased, Martien’s vision expanded. In 1961, he founded IGO: International Gift Organisation. In the 1960s, Martien introduced the concept of direct marketing via catalogues, revolutionary at the time. In the decades that followed, IGO steadily grew internationally, broadening its European presence and strengthening its position in the promotional products market. The head office has been located in Helmond since 1992. IGO is still growing as part of Plato Group, with the same entrepreneurial drive that started it all.
